Hi everyone, I'm so glad I found this site since I've learned so much about the dvx100a just by browsing around. :D

Anyway, I'm planning to purchase one in the next month and was wondering if anyone could simply tell me if it has a manual white balance or just presets.

It may sound rediculous, but I just wanted to make sure before i took the plunge.

THANK YOU!

Re: White Balance Question :)

presets are your buddy.
In post there is not as much color correction going on nowadays as color creation. I treat every shot that comes into the box and when a DP whitebalances in the middle of a freakin interview it is more than nerve racking. Just leave that thing in preset and don't over think it. Color and filters are for post in my book (of course all editors think so) and all we need is a nice clean image.
I remember an ex-boss getting pretty ticked at me after I gaff taped his WB switch on his betacam to preset. Of course he was the moron who would white balance in the middle of a scene making me have to match that stuff so it's not as if I could listen to someone like that. ;)

Re: White Balance Question :)

well, yeah, I was hoping to be able to white balance on things like orange and blue, to help me get the lighting I want.

If you do that in post could you tell me what software you use, I'm a color freak and this kinda thing is very important to me so any color techniques and advice is greatly appreciated :)
