White Bal. Dark Location Grain?

I was filming at 24P in a fairly dark location and had grain in dark areas of the image after white balancing. When I switched back to the 3200K preset, the grain went away. Every time I tried to white balance, it was the same thing. I got the AWB Active  and Low Light messages and grain in the dark areas. The 3200 preset never had grain. I wasn't using any gain either. What gives? All help would be appreciated. Thanks. mark.

3200K doesn't contain much blue signal information, and bleu is the noisy component in CCD imagers

Re: White Bal. Dark Location Grain?

Is there an article somewhere that tells specifically how to use these white balance settings? I'm lost. I can't recreate the same white balance for a room over again.

Suddenly in the middle of a scene the warm rich colours turned to a cold ugly look. Now I can't get it back to the warm look. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: White Bal. Dark Location Grain?

You can control the warm/cold balance by using the COLOR TEMP setting in the menus (as long as you're using manual white balance, and not the presets).

Re: White Bal. Dark Location Grain?

Barry can you elaborate. I have a DVX100a. I have found that my picture tends to be VERY warm in low light high gain, situations. (I shoot allot of weddings). Any suggestions on the best way to cool my picture down in the field.

Re: White Bal. Dark Location Grain?

Wait, how do you switch to manual white balance? And then how do you make manual adjustments? Is that the same as the colour temp you're talking about?

Sorry this white balance thing just seems vague in all the users guides i've seen.
