Hey guys, I'm torn as to what to do. I won a Canon HF100 from my work, it's a nice little camera, shoot 24p, 30, 60i in avchd 17mbs but needs pulldown in post. Since it's brand new I know I can easily flip it for 600cad. My work also has a dvx100A they're letting go of, they said If I wanted it, it'd be $800cad for me (anyone else has to pay more). I'm not sure if I should flip the hf100 for the dvx100a.
I'm already an hvx200 owner and don't really need the dvx, but I've always regretted selling mine back when I did and frankly, it's the love of it that's making me want it again.
However with the hf100 and my m2e rig I could have a nice small adapter rig for when I want the look and what something small than my full blown hvx setup. But unfortunately the hf100 doesn't have full manual control
And then I saw this: http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=169211
And I realized I could decently upres dvx footage! For projects that end up in sd (most of them still) using a dvx and hvx together wouldn't be so bad.
And then two more options came up: the canon hf s10 and panasonic tm300. The hf s10 has very nice image quailty and has better manual control than the hf100 but still not complete manual control, it's a single sensor 1.26" cmos. The tm300 is 3x 1.4" cmos, and full manual control, not too shabby.
Yes I'd pay more flipping for one of those two, but that's not real issue.
Which would you do?
keep the hf100
flip the hf100 for the dvx100A (with almost 500hrs on it)
flip the hf100 for the hf s10
flip the hf100 for the tm300
I'm still leaning towards the dvx100a but I'm not sure if that's the best thing to do. Help me decide.
edit: and no, a vdslr isn't a possibility, I've got access to the 5dMK2, D90, D5000, and T1i already. I'll probably get a GH1 irregardless (mostly so I can use my fd lenses to take pictures, and yes I know irregardless it technically not a word) so it doesn't weight into this situation, this about a video camera, not a hybrid.
