guys,

which good, cheap wireless microhphone system do you recommend to use with the HMC-40?
i acquiered a rode video mic but feel the necessity (and it is being paid for by a client) of acquiring a wireless microphone.

in reality, i would love a lavalier or a wireless adaptor that you atatch to a mic.
distance shouldn't be more than 40-50 feet.

any ideas?

Wireless XLR adapters exist and can be used with any microphone. I have no idea what to recommend as standalones, but everytime I've rented a Sennheiser lav they incude one, so I think they come with it. That would get you both a wireless lav and the ability to use your existing microphone with a transmitter.

"Good" and "cheap" may not be compatible requirements, depending mainly on your definition of "cheap."

This is a frequent subject in the Audio forum here, which is probably a more appropriate place for it because it is not really HMC40 (or any camera) specific.

See, for example, http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?240037 .

The bottom line is that it all depends on your budget. Wireless microphone systems worthy of use on a serious production (and since the HMC40 is in all respects a serious camera, this probably includes yours) start at about $500 per channel. If you have less than that to spend, you'll almost certainly be better off renting the equipment when you really need it, or finding a way to do the same job with wired microphones. This is not an expression of equipment snobbery, it's more like a law of physics and economics -- you really can't build a satisfactory system for less money than that.

Specifically, the Sennheiser G3 (current model) or G2 (previous version, which I have) systems are typically recommended as the lowest cost wireless mics suitable for quality production use. They sell two standard ENG battery powered transmitter/receiver bundles, one with a lavalier microphone, the other with both the lavalier plus an XLR plug-in transmitter that can be used with any dynamic or battery-powered condenser microphone.

awesome, just a little bitt off the price range.
how about this one?

That is the 105, just the receiver, 1 transmitter and lav mic. I started with the receiver and handheld mic, then added the transmitter and lav. That is what is nice with these systems, you can add to them as needed.

Here is a video with the lav mic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrPoARQBZEw. The sound was not as good as it was going into a T2i and think the AGC messes it up. Need to make more adjustments with the levels next time I use it with my 7D (no longer have the T2i).
