I've heard the one should only use the Panasonic master DV for the camera at all times. True? If so, why?

Well I have found they are the best type of tape to use with this camera. Also they have allot less drop outs so that is good. Really the important thing is that you stick to one tape and one brand. Different brands use different types of lube and when you run one tape and then another the lubes do not mix well and your rec heads will get all dirty and that is no good. So I would just stick with the masters

I use the Panasonic AY-DVM63PQ (Pro Quality). I guess they're not rated as high as master quality but they're fine. As stated, the important thing is that you use the same brand/type.
