GH5 Which strength and focusing with Mist filters - Pro-mist, Softon, Black mist?

I use zooms via speedbooster when using GH series cameras for run n gun work.
I couldn't fathom changing out primes like that. And with the speed booster an f2.8 zoom becomes an f2.0.

Yeah, I hear you - that workflow for me has NOT translated to S1H and Zeiss Milvus. It's a royal PIA to attempt that. However, m43 voigtalnder primes on GH look incredible compared to zoom lenses and are very small and light - I can do a one handed lens change very quickly when wearing a Thinktank Lens belt. The image mojo is worth it to me... but when things get real crazy, I use the Sigma 18-35 on speedbooster.

Sidenote, I've been thinking of the lumix 10-25 f/1.7 to pair with a GH6 if the next GH camera looks compelling, mainly because international travel keeps getting more and more restricted and I'm a bit taken by the idea of a small single camera/lens solution for remote docu type work. It's essentially the same as a boosted sigma 18-35, but weather sealed and simpler without having the adapted connection point. However, I'm not a fan of investing much more in the system if its prospects aren't so bright and rosy.

Do those mist filters have a flat surface on both sides so that it is easy to clean or does it have rough surfaces due to the patterns added to the glass?

Also, do these filters add to the lens flare or are they multi-coated to reduce flare?

The patterns are between two pieces of glass that have been cemented together. The outer pieces of glass are flat. (From what I've heard, the very first mist filters were created with a fine mist of hair spray or something like that and they could not be cleaned.)

Some filters are multi-coated, but you have to check - a lot of cinema filters are not. This is mainly because rental companies don't necessarily want coatings, as they are easier to come off from the amount of use they would get out in the field and from the cleaning they get when checked back in.

My go-to for past few years has been the Glimmerglass, which I generally go with 1/2 or 1. My current show I'm enjoying the look of the the Black Diffusion FX 1, which is doing a nice job of softening overall since my lenses run to the crispy. It's a bit dramatic shooting into large highlights like against windows, so I'm swapping over to the GG for those shots.
