Which settings should I use?

Re: Which settings should I use?

So sorry, IAL....I didn't mean to bring up your tortured past...it will only make you stronger.

I just wanted to know which settings to use. NOT ONLY did I find out that the blue one is the best, but I now have a 50mm film camera that projects it's own footage!

That mixed with the right settings are gonna make my movie look like Ben Hur, only fifteen millimetres smaller...

Re: Which settings should I use?

I always do a white balance by pointing the DVX directly into the sun. If you see below it really gives me a unique filmish look.

Quick! Jarred! Turn off the option that lets guests view the board!

Re: Which settings should I use?

John, those colours are amazing. Now I wanted to ask you... did you first put a wonka filter on before you white balanced?

That white balancing by pointing at the sun can be tricky if you don't have one of those filters... the oompa loompas really know how to get the right degree of glass and tint on a filter to make sure you get that filmish look perfectly down...

If you add a 24x37 anamorphic lens flare lens then you can get some awesome footage of yo mamma's butt baking in the Arizona sun on a scorching 40C day... something worth giving a try...

Re: Which settings should I use?

I dont have the Wonka Filter.

Whats the best place to buy this? Do you think EVS will give me a DVX discount? What about this place called Joe's Ass Rape in Brooklyn? They say I can have it for $1.00.

Re: Which settings should I use?

Joe's Ass Rape is actually a good store. They're located on the corners of RIP St. and OFF Blvd.

They got me $1000 off the stevebox...only $500 bucks!!!...they said matteboxes were old news...and the cardboard does make it lighter!

Re: Which settings should I use?

Stevebox? Dude, that's old school... I'm all about the Davebox...

Daveboxes are brand new... just out on the market. The secret to their quality lies in the scotch tape... Be careful, if the tape is yellow, don't buy it. It means it's gray market and old. Don't spend more than $3000 on one either. You should be able to get one for about $2000 USD easily...

Yeah, I've heard about Joe's Ass Rape... they're supposed to be one of the big film equipment suppliers in New York.

If you're looking to get a wonka filter though the best place to get it is from Sal's Shop Of Secondhand ****... you can order online from them I think... they'll deliver next-day for free as well...

Re: Which settings should I use?

This is why I hate this message board, I'm always finding out about cool **** I want to buy for my camera. So now I need a dave box, and some wonka filters.

Re: Which settings should I use?

I know how you feel.  In fact, since joining this board I have bought and replaced no less than 8 DVX100's.  You see, I keep getting a broken one that makes this weird clicking noise when I tilt it.  Weird, huh?

Re: Which settings should I use?

..my brother opened up the afore mentioned store. last week he had a very unusual and unfortunate accident..

apparently i shoved a large box containing disgruntled customer returns into his posterior..

..very sad indeed.

Re: Which settings should I use?

John: You probably bought it from one of those crappy shops like EVS or B&H huh? And I bet you payed upwards of like $3,400. That was your mistake, you should have bought from someplace with integrity, like digital liquidator. They only charge $2,100.

Let's do some research here people!

Re: Which settings should I use?

..wherever he bought it from .. i need to get one from there, because his seems to take gooder pictures than mine does.. like his are colorful, and mine are grainy and out of focus and full of stupid imagery.. so it has to be the reseller that makes the difference. mine never seems to compose the images any good. ..its a defective unit.

Re: Which settings should I use?

I have always lacked in the research area. I think I finally got a good DVX though cause it says GL2 which I think means "Good Luck Squared"
