Re: Which settings should I use?

Dude you KNOW people will be on here asking what the blue setting is...and if it makes it look more filmish...and if it gets rid of the clunking sound...heh :D

Re: Which settings should I use?

aw man... the blue setting is the best one! The blue setting rocks all the other settings out of the water...

Blue is of course the colour of the sky... and the colour of water... this instantly makes it superiour to things such as the red setting or the green setting. The red setting is of course the colour of fire, so it competes pretty well but not quite as good... water can always douse fire. Green doesn't stand a chance against blue. Green is the colour of flora. Flora needs water to survive, thus, making blue superiour to that as well...

If anyone ever wanted to know which setting was the best, the blue setting hands down would be the one I would recommend... what do you guys think?

Re: Which settings should I use?

You guys are stupid, people should be using Scene File 7 (F7 for short.) It's not labeled on the dial because it basically does all the work for you, and they don't want everybody having the perfect shot everytime. It also turns the CCD chips into native 16:9.

Aside from that, I wanna see Alien vs. Predator.

Re: Which settings should I use?

Oh yeah, well psh... I knew all about F7... who doesn't? It's only the best secret to know about the DVX anyway...

Re: Which settings should I use?

I thought it was well known information. I mean come on Mike_Donis, your a platnum member. Let's get it together man.

Next you'll say that you didn't know the DVX could record in HD with a simple copper wire wrapped around the record button. Geez.

*Edit: Damn, Mike replied as I was writing this. It's no longer funny.:P

Re: Which settings should I use?

:D

That copper wire trick is a doozey though. You have to make sure that you don't wrap it too tight, otherwise it won't work. It's all about the finesse!

Re: Which settings should I use?

Yea, and I heard if you use insulated copper wire it will switch to beta cam settings. But I have yet to try this.

Oh yeah, the F7...that's great and all...but that's only half of what the F8 setting does...

Here's how...right as the clunking noise happens push IN on the F7 setting...

Your DVX is now recording onto film...oh yeah I said it...

Re: Which settings should I use?

Aw! Screw the beta cam settings! I'm doing that!

Re: Which settings should I use?

ONTO FILM! What?! I didn't even know that... is it 16mm or 35mm? Oh man, if there was someway it could record to 50mm that would be super. I'm planning on making my next film on IMAX and need that extra resolution...

Do I need to rig a steel wire or something and wrap it around the microphone?

Re: Which settings should I use?

If you want to shoot 50mm, you could always shoot 35mm AND 16mm side-by-side, and then when you go to glue 'em together you'll get 50mm (you have to use that 1mm in between as the edge where you glue it).

Don't use steel wire on the on-board microphone, that'll give you hum and interference. You want to get one of those $3 Radio Shack lavalieres, that'll work much better with the steel wire.

Re: Which settings should I use?

Barry, are we talkin' elmers here? or liquid cement? if we're on a tight budet, would scotch tape work?

Re: Which settings should I use?

LOL Barry. Why are you lying?

50mm is gaffers tape run through the DVX heads! duh ::)

Re: Which settings should I use?

Oh, you're talking about the PAL system -- I was talking about the NTSC system. Yes, in Europe and other PAL countries, they use gaffer's tape on the heads.

Re: Which settings should I use?

.. what i did was take out the power zoom mech, and replace it with a powerful 20 watt sylvania brand bulb.. .. so you can go into VTR mode and actually PROJECT YOUR FOOTAGE ONTO THE BIG SCREEN RIGHT FROM THE DVX.!!! I was just sitting there when it came to me.. th only downside is that he DVX does not have a sufficient cooliong system to keep the camera cool, so i stick an dice cube or two in the head mech with the tape.. I think it lubes the heads too cause ..well ...you know. water is .. lubey.
