im going to be shooting a promo for my father with three cameras 2 dvx100a and a pdx10 all 4:3 as i can do 16:9 later on if wanted. Im curious about whcih mode to capture with 24p, 30p or 60i?

The end result will be set for youtube as well as a short promo DVD will be made, i dont know if it will be watched on a widescreen or not but most likely i will turn the 4:3 to 16:9 in post for sure for the web maybe DVD as well? tell me what you think?

The PDX10 i believe shoots 60i i cant remember but if thats the case should i just shoot 60i and de-interlace upon capture? i know i want to de interlace for web but if i de-interlace will that affect how i make a DVD?

thanks again guys

btw this is a concert/ music video style shoot im doing at our practice studio and a live venue, his band is a nickleback tribute band and i just watched some live vids other have made using the dvx00a and 24p and it looked nice!

For the web, shoot it in 30p on the DVX's and then de-interlace the PDX10 footage in post. 30p is best for the web, and it is a pain to mix 24p and other frame rates, plus, the 24p footage would differ greatly. I also think 4:3 would be the best aspect ratio to shoot in. It isn't too much different when viewed on the web, so crop it if you feel it will add to it. For the DVD, I would definitely make it 16:9, and de-interlaced. Not sure what editing program you are using, but when you compress and send to your respective DVD authoring program (or in your regular editing program), it will convert by itself.

I use FCP 5.2.4 i think is my current version or close to, so would i want to capture the PDX like i normally would capture my DVX and not de-interlace during capture? How do i want to de-interlace in post? i know i can click the item properties and check field order none and net something to progressive but i cant remember where that was?
