Which Resolution to Reccomend

Hello and thanks to anyone who can help in this matter.

I've got a P2 based project coming and have been sussing
out an appropriate workflow.

I've got MC 2.7 on an Adrenaline (No DNexcel card). I think
I've got the HD monitoring figured-thanks to an excellent workaround
found by a member here.


The project is for HD network broadcast. In this case I will assume
1080i as a deliverable format.

If this is the case, should I recommend a 1080i capture resolution for production?

There will be a lot of footage and my understanding is that 720p offers an aesthetic advantage as well as disk space savings.

Are there pitfalls to up-rezing 720p to 1080i for broadcast?

To make a long story short. If deliverable master is to be 1080i,

should that dictate the production resolution?

If you are considering 720p60 vs. 1080i60: it really does not matter. But if you want to the "film look" of 24p, you should go with 720@24pN. You'll be able to fit much more on a P2card.
 
Thanks. So upscaling the 720pN to a 1080i HDcam master will
not be an issue?. I assume it's very common, but still learning in this area.

Speaking of still learning....I'm still a bit unclear about the 720pN designation
vs. 720p.
