Which PL mount?

Buying the canon 17-200mm Zoom lens in PL for my C300, i never used my A7s with PL yet so asking here what was you're Experience with different Adapters.
and which one should i get?

Thank you.

I'd suggest any well machined mount that can be shimmed.

This is paramount if you wish to utilize the cinema markings of a cine lens.

HotRod products are among the best adapters out there. You won't go wrong with them. I'd suggest you buy once, and buy right with piece of mind. Chinese adapters off ebay is a buyers risk.

Anyway, what lens are you talking about? I know a lot about lenses, but this 17-200 is not ringing a bell... do you mean 17-120 or maybe 70-200?

Oh good!

The 17-120 Canon lens is somewhat unique in that it has adjustable backfocus. This means you don't necessarily have to shim the mount, but you can utilize the lens to get your marks accurate.

I'd still recommend a shimable mount, so that you can use other PL mount lenses with your camera, but for the immediate need with just that one lens, you actually don't need a mount that can be shimmed.

I would still get a shimable PL mount. To add to the list of PL mounts available, there is the one from Wooden Camera as well that comes with shims.

Solid Camera's PL mount, I am sure is good as well. Carlos the owner knows his lenses and has access to lots of odd ball glass.

If you buy a PL mount, you shouldn't assume you are only going to be using one lens on it. Circumstances can change dramatically, even for a one-man band operation. You never know what is around the corner.

And that Canon 17-120mm is a nice piece of kit.

That Wooden camera one looks interesting, own lot of their products and they are well made. this Canon Lens has got the perfect range of mm" i need for documentary work and other shoots off-course. i do rent other PL lenses so need the mount to be shimable.
anyone else worked with that Wooden one? i'm almost about to do it...

I've owned the Hotrod PL mount, a PL mount from Poland (ebay seller), Solid Camera PL to E-mount, and Steve Morton's stainless steel PL mounts from Australia (mounts to convert cameras, not PL e-mount adapter, though I suppose he could make one). Also mount adapters from MTF.

For a PL to E-mount adapter I would go with Solid Camera first and not bother with the rest, for several reasons:
- high quality.
-shimmable
-other back ends are available, ie: M4/3
-properly supported rod mount- bolts to base of PL mount.

Look carefully at Solid Camera's mount support and compare it to the others.

The e-mount is going to be a weak connection. The PL mount adapter needs to be properly supported.

Thank you KlK,
That Solid camera looks good too, and as far as support: it has to have a 15" or 19"mm Support for the E mount, those lenses are going on a strong Rig.

I had used PL to E mount adapter made by Vocas and PL to MTF mount made by ciecio7, and can recommend both, both solidly made and hit infinite focus.

The ciecio7 adapter is really good. I've been using his PL/MFT adapter over 3 years. Now I bought E-mount adapter for my A7 camera.

Guy, your post states you are buying the lens in PL mount for your C300... All the responses have been for PL to E mount adapters. You have a very unique issue. You state you are using the lens with a C300... that's EF mount... None of the adapters noted will work. If you are using E mount and the FS7 camera or NEX camera then the posters have given you many suggestions. If you are using the lens with a C300 it is a much different discussion...

He might have C300 with PL mount.

That's what rushed responses get me, Henrik, thanks for setting me straight. Missed the forrest for the trees as they say. He does say using with his A7S... Biggest issue is rod support needed at both ends of the lens, on the adapter end and on the lens body.

After trying few adapters i went (for now) with the 16x9 PL to E adapter that worked best as far as smooth mounting etc... this is my first test (this is in a Pre rig stage so it looks ridiculous) P-tap to the AB battery powers it, just need to figure out how it will trigger the Atoms Shogun.
