GH13 which patch is good for chromakey?

I have the same question. MJPEG takes too much space. On the other side 24p is 4:2:0 and that can cause troubles. Does anybody has a solution to get natural looking edges with 24p? It's easier to invest a little money and effort into good green screen lighting than waiting hours with video re-compressing and loosing quality and hard drive space.

Love to shoot in mjpeg too with 4:2:2. To me the only problem is the lenght of this format because of 2gb limit size, space or bigger size of the clip is no biggy. How long do you think the lenght of shooting with telepromter reading style ( not panning or moving a lot ) woul be? 5-6 minutes?

How about shooting in 24p and converting to ProRes 422 (5dtorgb, compressor... there are options)?
I need to shoot longer videos. With mjpeg even 32gb sd card will be full in minutes.

PS: my gh2 is hacked and I am using the latest stable settings provided by cbrandin.

Mezomorf: Good questions.
My understanding is that if you shoot 4:2:0 then you have already lost certain color information and converting to 4:2:2 will not bring it back - but as far as post processing specifically for chroma-key, I do not know the answer.
I hope somebody who does this will chime in here.

Will converting 24p AVCHD to a 4:2:2 colorspace format offer any advantages when chroma-keying the images?

You actually get a little bit of advantage in chroma. but is about 5% advantage. The best result is to record on native 4:2:2 Proress wont "create" more color, neider 5DtoRGB. When doing chroma key, you have to be more carefull. Sometimes makin diferent layer at affter effects, and converting the RGB space to 32 bits can create some data thay make your chroma key way better.

But remember is alot about your eye, and the presicion you put on it.
