first post i think...wedding video guy, i find myself having issues everytime i try to get a good live feed of the dj and his music. tape out is just music, some problem with the main out, i don't know what to do...is there a method to it? anyone?

I am not sure what your problem is or what you are trying to achieve. What are the problems?

Cheers

Just split whatever cable he is inputting into his speakers. I should be pretty simple if you or him have cable splitters.

... Just be carefull not to send a Speaker level signal into your camera (can make some smoke...)

What mixer is the DJ using?

Why not mic his speakers like you would with a guitar amp? Treat it like a live performance and stick a SM57 in front of the speakers, adjust your pre levels and then you have the music au natural.

(NOTE: I'm no audio guy. So hopefully the audio pro's will correct me.)

I shoot a different wedding every weekend, and all dj's are using different equiptment. Your could mic the speaker itself, But the audio sounds blown out/distorted and has to be monitored all night...

The first option I always try is to ask if they can record the sound and in what format. Sometimes saves a headache.
