Which OS For Avid?

Hello,

I'm currently using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and Vegas Pro 9 for my NLE. I bought
Avid Media Composer a while back but I won't install on my current OS (XP Pro x64).
I have removeable hard drives for my rig. One for audio and the other for video.
I'm going to have the new drive configured next week but I'm still debating which
OS to go with. Windows Vista x64 or Windows 7 x64.

Any advice as to which OS to choose, pros/cons or any other advice would be
greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Windows 7 isn't even released yet, so it's definitely not qualified, and it will probably be a while before it is. If you need your system to work, go with an approved OS, which is:

Windows Vista Business or Ultimate 64-bit for Media Composer v3 and above.

There are some guys that are running windows 7 on the avid forums, guess it's a beta version? A few problems were reported but now that looks like it was just a driver for a certain video card that is easy to fix.

If your going to start a big project use vista 64 business or ultimate and hold off for 6 months on the windows 7. FYI if you buy vista 64 business or ultimate now you get a free upgrade to windows 7 that you can intall anytime you want in the future.

They are reporting windows 7 runs much faster than vista 64, has better usage of ram.

MDSlammer,

Just a heads up the adrenaline break out boxes (not sure on the mojo's) don't work with windows 7 in case you ever want to pick a used one up off ebay in the future. You have such a hot rod computer you'll probably never want to.
