Which Monitor is better?

Hey, I'm looking to get my first REAL good monitor for my PC soon and I don't have 500 bucks to toss around. I found some monitors that seem to be getting nothing but good reviews and I wanted some opinions from people who have seen/used them first hand:

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-P2350-1-23-Inch-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/B003ARSZ0W/ref=pd_cp_pc_3

I've heard nothing but great things about this- amazon reviews, tech reviews on youtube as well as user reviews- everyone says it's a really good monitor, especially for only 200 bucks.

I also noticed this while shopping:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...&cs=19&c=us&l=en&dgc=SS&cid=50390&lid=1305792

It's the same price but is 24 inches instead of 23 inches. I've read good reviews for this as well, just not as many. The only other difference is that the Dell seems to have a 5ms response time as opposed to Samsung's 2ms, but I don't plan to game on this.

I've seen the Samsung first hand and it's nice, I haven't seen the Dell but wouldn't mind the extra inch. I don't know if I'm going to use this for serious editing or not, but at the very least I'll have a decent monitor to watch Netflix on...again, I'm looking at the very attractive price on both.

So, is the extra inch on the Dell worth it, or should I just stick with Samsung?

i would go with the faster responding monitor, but if you really want to get technical go with a CRT.

we use a CRT HDTV and a CRT monitor for color correcting and misc duty, otherwise all our machines we just switched to twin LG E2350V LED backlit monitors; full HD fast response but a bit contrasty for production work, hence the reliance on CRT's. i think the LG's were in the mid $300's.

Well, like I said, I'm probably not going to be doing serious picture work with this. I most likely will be doing some sound work though, so extra space is a facotr, but mostly I'm just looking for a PC monitor I can just use for a nice monitor- especially for watching Netflix/DVDs, etc.

So if it was between these two, that's one vote for Samsung...

always i go for response time; i had an old laptop with 25ms response time, my monitors at home are 2ms response time, and the first time i fired up the old laptop in about 2 years (it had a very expensive for the time 1600x1200 15" display) everything looked HORRIBLY blurry in comparison to my 2ms LCD desktop monitors.

almost anything else but brightness and response time you can calibrate, so i would prioritize those. 5ms vs 2ms isnt that much of a difference, but you may notice it if they were side by side.

I should also add the Samsung doesn't have an HDMI input- only DVI. I honestly don't know if this is that big of a deal anymore as far as versatility goes...

However, the Samsung is also brighter, I just checked. I'm probably going to go with the Samsung in the end. Thanks.

Dell SP2309W 23 inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor

Just got it and it has HDMI input.

Really good, bright, detailed, high resolution monitor for $200.00 if you find a coupon.

I think with either one of them, you can't go wrong. Really 2 of the best brand names out there right now. 2ms vs. 5ms is no big deal what-so-ever unless you are a serious gamer. 5ms is still pretty fast.
