I ordered the battery operated version of COS-11 and plan to use it with the ew2 plug-on module when I need wireless. Should work at least at short range.

Timapter: yes. I have the lav that came with the ew2 system (with belt pack connector). It can not be used without some low voltage (9v?) from the belt pack. Thus I can not use it with cable from camera.

COS-11sBP can be operated either with phantom (from camera or recorder) or with battery (non-phantom cam or recorder). As it works also without phantom it can be plugged to the ew2 plug-on transmitter, which has no phantom or other lower voltages. Voilá: I have a high quality lav for both radio & cable! The plug-on is just a bit clumsier to hide, but workable*.

It MIGHT be possible to attach the COS-11sBP to the ew2 belt transmitter also , with a XLR -> 3.5mm converter, I am just a bit worried about the voltage the transmitter always puts out. Would it affect the mic in some unhealthy way? Possibly not. But with the plug-on there is no worries.

Now, I need another ew2 reciever... Neverending, vicous circle...

*) just an afterthought: plug-on needs the mic body as an antenna, does the lav battery compartment/XLR plug work as one? We'll see in a few weeks.

im not sure if youre getting the best out of your stuff that way, man...

isnt it a flippin bulky way to do things, having the whole preamp and battery tube and stuff, and the long cable, and the plug on? why not just fit a break in plug into the cable so you can unplug and use the belt pack transmitter - thats what its designed for. ?

That would be the best way to do it, sure. But, are you sure the voltage the transmitter always feeds to the mic does not interfere with the COS-11sBP? It is after all designed either for no power (0 V) or phantom (48V), not 9V or something?

And my first priority was a wired lavalier, radio option comes second with this Sanken.
