Which is more "filmic": DVX versus HDV cams?

My fellow DVX'ers:

I'm shooting a commercial next week and the old school producers are very excited to shoot on "one of those small new cameras"...They want a filmic / cine look. I need to present a brief argument for shooting with either the DVX100 or the Sony Z1 HDV. Can you guys help me summarize? Why does the HDV camera offer a better solution than the DVX? Or does it? Is the DVX a better camera for a "filmic" look than the Z1?

Note: I would LOVE to just use the HVX, were it available...(I need 3 of them)...

Thanks!

I'm far from an expert on the subject, but i would say DVX. the Z1 doesn't have true 24P, which would help with the film loook, and i'm just assuming here.... but the spot probably wouldn't need to be in HD, so the DVX would provide all the resolution you would need. viva la panasonic! :)

Dude... i used HDV Sony Z1... and my advice is.. stay away from it..

I´m about to buy a DVX100A... and affter few months.. i will buy an HVX...

i´m a novel here.. but i can speak about Z1... and.. well.. i don´t like it at all.

Don't forget the JVC. I find the HD100U very filmic, both in image quality and temporal motion. Some say it's a little noisy, but I find that enhances the film look. With detail set down to "MIN", the only thing that betrays a video look is the occasional highlight, and even then this appears to be a tad better than the other 1/3" HD cameras.

BTW, I finally got to see the HVX200 in person yesterday. It's images are excellent. But, honestly, all of these new HD cameras are so very close it's hard to call any one of them a "winner". I agree with Fernando: the Sony is the only one I haven't liked. The others - Canon XL H1, JVC HD100U and Panasonic HVX200 - are a safe purchase. Just pick the one that has the best features for you.
