Which Hand-Held Cam?

Which hand-held consumer camera on the market would be a good fit for a Blair Witch kind of film? I'm looking for something small but gives a good picture in Night Shot Mode. HD or SD, doesn't matter. Looking to keep it under $1500 and needs to be around the size of a HV40. Manual controls aren't really important, neither is format, as long as the image holds up fairly well.

I have a few suggestions but I am not a pro by any means, I have spent about two weeks searching for video camera's for underwater filming fishing lures and for use in making a TV commercial as well, So far the best bet I found is the HDR-HC9 800.00 was the best deal I found on the web, it has Lanc hook up which most of the others do not, I needed Lanc to connect to an older underwater housing.
The image is good and it has night vision for night shooting without lights etc.
My other choice would be the HDR-FX7 about 1900.00 on ebay and some websites, my big question was the ability to use the footage for national TV commercial and found it can be formatted to whatever is needed but costs can be high, you will find this with most prosumer cams though.
Here is a website that might help that I found after a few days of researching : http://camcorder-test.slashcam.com/compare.html
They compare all the different models available and allows you to choose and compare side by side or as many as you want.
If anyone reads this thread and has any advise for me on my choices let me know.

Good luck on your movie Andrew.

Whatever you get, keep in mind that CMOS sensors and the rolling shutter artifacts will probably be a greater challenge for "Blair Witch" types of shooting, with lots of handheld movement with shaky movement and quick pans.

The only compact form-factor CCD camera that I've been able to find is the Panasonic AG-HSC1U, but I can't tell if it actually has a Night Shot feature or not. Seems like everything that small is CMOS now.

No night shot feature on the hsc1-u, lots of noise from it at night, lots and lots...It's a great small stealth cam but needs lots of light.
