Which GLIDECAM ?

The 2000 or 4000 series?

Thanks![/quote]

I don't own either, but I'm betting that if your adding on all those extras that you will probably need the 4000. Also, if you do decide to get the 4000, better get a New Arm as well, or plan on shooting in short increments, because I hear that it can get really heavy as you hold it away from your body.

I accidently hit enter when I was quoting, and had to go back and edit in my answer. :D

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

Many people have discussed this subject, but some of their answers gets me even more confused at times when it comes to picking one out. Your best bet is of course getting someone that has had experience with both of those to answer you.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
i brought the GC2000 - I hired this other thing called a " handyman100" I didn't like the feel too much & the dvrigpro is not really syuited to run & gun so I opted for the gc2000 pro.
Its a ***** to balance right now - Im trying get my head around the axis etc but judging by the look of it in my hand - I like the design alot better then the others.
I may exchange it for the 4000 if Im close to the bone - I''ve just brought the century optics .7x wide angle so - its at the limit for sure.
The feedback from here & others have been the that the 2000 is fine even with the 8 hour battery & wide angle so - lets see.

Im just about to start another thread on quick release plates for this thing so - once I locate that & get the balance sorted - I'll try & go shoot my own floating shots & post feedback.

cheers

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

So I suppose adding a mattebox would be too much for the gc2000.

The thing is I tried out the gc4000 (w/o mattebox) and it was pretty damned heavy.

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

To consolidate Glidecam questions, I'm also going to ask anyone if they've used the chest harness or the arm support. I want to use the chest harness because it looks like more support and I can use it longer.

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

i have used the chest harness a friend of mine has one i own the GC 4000 and to be honest the chest harness is ok if you dont plan on doing a lot of walking over ruff ground as it takes out very little of the shake im waiting for the new arm and vest to come out for the 2000 / 4000 which they say will be before xmas and cost about $1300...

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

I use the 4000 and the arm brace. If your going to buy the 4000 it's almost REQUIRED to buy the arm brace, it helps out so much.

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

I use the 2000, from ten years ago, I think back then it was the 1000, works great. But you better pump some iron before you use it for long shots. Or, get the brace.

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

So the arm brace is very useful. And cheaper too, not to mention.

The chest harness doesn't work when walk on uneven ground? And it doesn't take the shake out as much as holding it?

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

Get the armbrace and the 4000 and you will be all set. That's the combo I use. Also, Glidecam is coming out with a vest for this unit in the next couple of months so it's a good way to slowly build up to a full rig.

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

cOOL. once again, the exact advice I need! thanks disjecta!

I've been having to prostitute myself day and night to finance all this stuff. Film stuff is so expensive.

I wish I invented McDonalds.

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

It's pretty damned heavy though bet you are making muscles.

Well I'm used to a 30 lb + 16mm cam and I do a lot of handheld b-roll and so my shoulders and arm muscles are deformed in a unique and admirable occupational deformity. I pay for it at night when I'm all cramped up and I could cry for a massage.

BRING ON THE GLIDECAM 4000- it ain't got nothing on me.

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

Okay enterdcable but when you are crying for your momma with a slipped disk, don't say we didn't warn ya :D

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

:D :D :D I know. I'll put a post up after I use it for a day and tell you how my forearm is doing.

And no, that's not doublespeak for sexual innuendoes... ;D

Re: Which GLIDECAM ?

Enterdcable:

"I wish I invented McDonalds."

Your not the only one to think about that. ;D

I need an handheld device too, next thing, so I'm looking to see what people liked or not about the differents choices. Disjecta said that, "Glidecam is coming out with a vest for this unit in the next couple of months so it's a good way to slowly build up to a full rig." Usually those vest are very expensive. I want to see that new one too, L' Aigle.

I hate ordering stuff on Friday and not having the weekends count as shipping dates <GRIPE GRIPE :'( >
