Which Exhibits Are at the Top of Your List to See?

This will be my first year going to NAB and I'm excited to see all the exhibits. I'm curious to know which exhibits will be attracting the most attention this year. Which exhibits are at the top of your list to visit and why?

My top five exhibits to visit are as follows:

Blackmagic: I want to see if they'll release another line up of cameras this year. I hope so!

Panasonic: I want to play with the GH4K.

Movi: I'm hoping that they'll release a lighter, less expensive version of their stabilizer. Also, I just want to play with that magnificent machine.

Convergent Design: I want to play with their new Odessey 7Q. I want to confirm if it can handle the Quad HD-SDI coming out of the new Panasonic GH4K.

Sony: A better question would be what DON'T I want to do at Sony's exhibit. They make so many great products! I especially want to see the F55 up close and some of their new 4K displays.

Here is a tip, check out other booths too if you're really looking to try out cameras.

While it wouldn't be helpful for a GH4K since it hasn't been released, other booths that sell camera accessories will probably have a Sony F5 or F55. Last time I was at NAB (2011) the Sony F3 was a new camera & the line to get your hands on it at the Sony booth was 4-5 people deep at the slow periods.

I found the camera on a Manfrotto tripod sitting all by itself & got a chance to check it out w/o having to fight other attendees.

If I get to go this year I really want to check out any booth with LED fresnel lights.

Great list so far, Ben! I hope you don't mind, I just wanted to give you a heads up that our booth will be featuring a lot of the stuff you mention, so if the manufacturers' booths ever get too crowded, feel free to stop by. :)

We'll have the Blackmagic Production Camera 4K, MoVI M10 & M5, the Odyssey7Q with the new ProRes firmware ;), and a bunch of Sony gear: F5, F55, AXS-R5, OLED viewfinders, plus some Sony 65" 4K displays. That's not all of course, but just wanted it to put it out there in case anyone was curious!

Like you, this will be my first time attending NAB and couldn't be more excited.

Beyond the big boy boths, i'm looking forward to discovering jems in the smaller boths, work-flows and solutions that I haven't thought of and diving a little deeper beyond the glitz of the latest , sexiest, camera .

And hopefully find some good deals on gear too :)

Come visit the Adorama Booth C10548. We'll have the F5, F55, BM4K, among others to test drive and will also have LED fresnels

Panasonic: Gotta see that Varicam! GH4 should be cool but I'm all about getting my hands on a Varicam as a possible purchase.

Sony: Shoulder rigs/ProRes for the F5/55? I also think they will be pushing 4K like no one else so overall it is something I have to gauge.

RED: Already have access to their latest and greatest dragon sensor but I'm curious what they have in the pipeline.

Canon: Will there be a C305 or C505? Essentially an upgrade for the current lineup. Or will there be a whole new camera lineup comin down the pipe.

Movi: Need to see the M20. Weight with the M10 has not been an issue. Problems are with balancing longer camera/lens combos and finding that center of gravity. Longer arms can be added but you void the warranty. So, have they solved this? What about the cable conundrum? They turn into little monsters with lots of cables when you add in the much needed monitor/wireless FF/wireless video transmitter combo. I think a more integrated setup would be amazing. And I'm wondering if there will be dedicated EZRig integration with the M20.

Arri: Demo Amira? I already have test shoot plans when ours comes in but I'm a "Try for a home run on the first date" kinda guy. (ie I'm not one for waiting to get my hands on the goods!!)

Overall gotta see what you guys are getting your hands on/what is piquing interest. What is the overall 4K atmosphere like? Is modularity of firmware (like the Amira) going to catch on? How far in advance are manufacturers hyping of things overall before the actual release date (this is more of my curiosity in advertising trends by manufacturers)?

I want to stop by Abel Cine because every time I go there I'm in that euphoric mode of GOTTA GET THE CAMERA, DON'T GET A PARKING TICKET, GOTTA GET A CAMERA, NOT A TICKET!!! Ya know, I just want to say "hi".

Finally I'm curious to see if someone has reinvented the C-Stand to be more friendly to my shins! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)
