which cheap capture cam?

De-lurking for my first post...

I'm shopping for a cheap MiniDV camera to capture footage shot on a mix of HVX's and DVX's to Final Cut Pro 6. I've heard that any MiniDV cam will do, but Apple's hardware compatibility list is fairly specific, and rules out much of what's commonly available. I gather I should stay away from Sonys, as they assume a wet tape lubricant, and I've seen reports of people having trouble getting inexpensive Samsungs to talk to FCP on their Macs. Are there specific makes and models of sub-$300 consumer cameras -- the kind of stuff likely to be on sale at BestBuy -- that the forum would recommend (or avoid) as a capture cam?

Thanks,
Adam

Anyone?

I believe that you need to start with same lubricant/brand tape for the cam and not change. That's the most important factor.

Use the Panasonic tapes on the Sony and don't change

Thanks, David. I'd assumed it was because the Sonys are built for wet lubricant. Appreciate your setting me straight.
