Which camera? Take a guess!

A: AF100
B: 7D

That is my guess :)

(And that thing is a focus controller, you can plug into the back of the AF100)

I'll admit, they are very close. That said, if you apply some curves to them, like I did, one has A LOT more red content, and the other more green content, in the blacks. The noise in both was very similar. I'd say it wouldn't be the curves that would make this different, but the color matrices.

Or lenses.. Since the FOV and DOF are slightly different it has to be more then the matrix. IF it was the same camera.

Okay, sorry guys. I've been keeping myself busy with a trip to Germany and doing green/blue screen among other things all day.

Camera A is a Canon 5D mk2 and camera B is the AF101. What's interesting is that the image derived from the 5D mkII is a RAW file and the image from the AF101 a screen capture from a 1080p video file. So the 5D mkII image is from a still image using the full power of the Canon while the other one is "just" a 1080p AVCHD image....

Nice. I was so wrong :) Thanks for sharing. It also explains why I couldn't find the moire I was looking for to identify a Canon camera since it is a still :)

Yes the Canon should have no flaws. Today I had my 5d and AF101 on set working in parallel to speed up a commercial shoot. I worked as first AC and second unit DP at the same time. Stressful at times yes. I actually noticed a couple of interesting things that really separates these cameras and why, in many situations, the 5D is so loved. You pick it up, turn down sharpness, contrast and chroma and start to shoot. It just looks like film at once. It handles colour and highlights very well and has that soft and warm look to it. Peeking on the AF101's monitor this looks so much different. I did shoot the opening shoot with both cameras to compare later.

This image shows the difference between a 5D and a AF101 clearly.

I am finding a lot of my AF100 test shooting just has more color than I want in it, although, that might just be from me shooting the 7D for so long. I think I am going to crank the chroma down even further. I prefer less saturation.
