Which camera should I buy?

Hey guys

I'd really appreciate some advice. I have just bought a Panasonic NV-GS15 to use as a deck instead of my DVX, but I am having trouble doing a batch capture in FCP. It seems like the camera doesn't see any timecode on my tapes that have been recorded on the DVX. Is there a way around this via some settings changes, or do I have to get a different camera?

If so, can anyone recommend a camera to buy to use as a deck? I am in PAL land and would like to keep the cost below AUD$1000 if possible!

Well, I returned the Panasonic and got a Sony DCR-H20E instead. It works fine. I actually rang Panasonic and they said that none of their cameras would read timecode which had been recorded on any other camera of theirs. Which seems a bit of a bizarre way to run a business and cut yourself out of sales, but there you go.

Anyway, hope this helps any others out there living in a PAL country.
