I'm new in this field and want to buy dslr camera around $1000 for HD movie and also stop motion animation. But don't know which one should I buy, canon or nikon, which model. Please give me some suggestion. Thanks.

The Canon 60d seems to be the cat's meow right now. However, I suggest carefully considering your needs and researching what each camera offers. It is also important to consider the accessories you'll need or want as well as lens choices because these can add up to quite a bundle.
If $1000 is it, then I would say go with a Canon t2i/550. This will cost you around $600-$800. Then I would get a good Prime lens like the Canon 50mm 1.8f for $99. Or get a Sigma 17-40mm f2.8 for around $350-$400. Keep in mind that glass is often more important and costly then the camera itself, this means don't put all your funds in to getting the newest camera.
Note that the 60d and t2i are essentially the same camera, same sensor and everything. The 60d is just a "glorified" version of the t2i. Its got a few more bells and whistles, some that I found essential which is why I went 60d
There's something I found about canon 60d is Audio system (External stereo microphone terminal provided/ Sound recording level adjustable, wind filter provided) that 550d and 7d don't have that. Is there anyone test about that? Are there any big different?
