which bag for GH2?

What are some nice inexpensive bags for GH? I have tascam dr100 and lenses and few other junks. Post pics if you have it!

That´s a good question.
I´d like to know if a backpack for a DSLR and a 17.3 size laptop exists. It´s frustrating that there are many for (up to) 17 but the effing .3 would not fit into any bag. :( thanks to those cca 2 more inches...

I have the lowepro micro trekker 200 for my gh1, just sold the gh1 body, and its great...fits several lenses + accessories. And it is a backpack, a little one that is very easy to stow and fly with. Just did a search on Amazon and several Lowepro backpacks range from about $50-70...trust me that you should get a good bag...it'll last much longer than the camera body.

I picke up a really nice tamrac bad with a tripod at costco for 50 bucks... Pretty darn sweet. The GH2 might live in my kata bag with the other cameras I carry....

Most 17" laptops are only 15.5" long. My 17" Dell XPS M1710 that is about 15.5" long, 11.5" wide and 1.5" deep.

The only backpack I found that says it will fit it is the Lowepro Pro Runner 450 backpack.

Thanks that´s great news. It looks like it should fit here (My laptop is 42.0 x 28.7 x 4.05 cm (W x D x H))
There´s a lot of confusion between a
-bag for a 17 inch laptop (can carry a 17 inch laptop) and
-a17 inch laptop bag (a bag 17 inches big) :)
Even some stores are not shure.

EDIT: well in the end, it does not fit:
notebook compartment: 39.5 x 31 x 4.5 cm
laptop is: 42.0 x 28.7 x 4.05 cm
:(

I looked at many cases today! All seem made for bigger body, even with adjustable panels, the little gh2 is swimming in it. Lowel has some inventive designs with the sling models but build quality not great, thin zippers that even are already jamming and not working great. Hard choices! Most bags not good for the small body.

Inexpensive?

Get a padded camera bag insert off eBay, and a cheap Chinese MOLLE "paintball" gear type bag. I've got one of my GH1's setup in one...works great...and very cheap.

My other GH1 is in a Naneu Pro - Lima bag. I used to only buy Lowepro bags (I'm a bag junky...I've got TONS of all sorts of bags, pouches, belts, backpacks, harnesses, etc), but that Naneu Pro is my favorite bag ever. I want more of their bags! The Lima is perfectly sized for the GH1, unlike most DSLR bags which are made for much bigger bodies. It will fit the GH1 with the 14-140 attached, plus the 7-14mm, plus the 45-200mm, plus the 45mm, plus the 20mm, and all sorts of extra pockets for other stuff. All in an extremely compact bag, considering all the gear.

I have a Fossil "man-purse" (sort of a small messenger bag), and am currently looking for a padded insert that will fit in it, so that I can carry my GH1 on vacation without an extra camera bag. With those inserts, any bag can be a camera bag. Real camera bags attract thieves. The padded insert in the Naneu Pro - Lima bag also comes out, so that you can fit it into another bag for travel....a carry-on for example.

For me, the best thing is to only buy bags from local camera stores. The ones I buy online are never the right size...they end up never getting used. Go to all the camera stores in town, and make notes of each one you like. Then go buy the right one at the store (I think it's really crappy to find the right bag at a local store...then buy it cheaper online).

I saw many bags today. This one impress me most ans seemed best suited for small formfactor of gh2. Top compartment isn't padded as I recall, build quality mediocre but price good. I like tripod holder. I think I might get too.

I'm just bought the LowePro SlingShot 202AW: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/676053-REG/Lowepro_LP36173_PEU_SlingShot_202_AW_Camera.html. I've had many bags in the past - everything from suitcase style to square shoulder bags to good-sized backups. They were always too big, too small, and/or a major hassle get things in and out! Maybe the SlingShot won't work, but it looks way closer than anything else I've seen.

Regards,

Dan.

Can anybody recommend a bag that will fit a 2 foot tripod

Many of those camera backpacks have a pocket you sit the tripod in and straps to attach it to the outside of the backpack. You would have to try your specific tripod with the backpack you are interested in, as it may not feel balanced to wear with certain tripods or bags.

You could also use the shoulder strap on a tripod bag and wear it along with a camera bag.
