which adapter for nikon lenses

We use brass for our fitments due to the high tensile strength and high corrosion resistance of the metal.

Once machined and polished our brass is then flash chromed with a nickel base and chrome top approx. 12 microns thickness. (the nickel base is often missed out on Chinese products to reduce cost)
The flash chroming process adds greater lubricity and wear resistance to the brass and also reduces possible galling and seizure between mating items.

Brass non chromed will mark and tarnish due to oxidization of the surface and wear quite quickly when constantly fitted to mating components with chrome surfaces.

Hope that helps

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your responses. Is the screw in a slightly awkward position though to quickly change the aperture? It seems like you'd have to reach over the camera to get at it. I guess it placement is dictated by the aperture lever in the nikon lenses. Are your adapters in stock and ready to ship? How long to get to the US? Any discount for dvxusers members? Thank you in advance!

That's a good question as to where the lever is as it may impact a follow focus unit.

Hi Bill,
the adapters are all in stock again from yesterday. Our first batch sold out in a few days and we have been working on these non stop to fulfill orders already placed.

You are right the thumbscrew is in the only place it can be to access to Nikon aperture lever. It is very easy to reach, and we chose this design because a cameraman cen get a decent grip on it and turn it to set the exact aperture he wants. The other design out there has a very thin pin or ring which moves around the diametre of the adapter and is not so easy to access when a lens is attached.

Depending where you are in the States, order today, it would go out on Monday with the other orders and probably be with you on Wednesday via Fedex International Priority with full tracking.

And if you do order, once received please post on here your thoughts

Best regards
Steve

The follow focus is not affected by the position of the thumbscrew. The thumbscrew is well behind and below the follow focus no matter what side you attach the follow focus.

Okay I ordered one with Fedex, so hopefully it will get to me by Wednesday as I have a shoot that day! I will definitely let folks know how it is once I receive it and use it for a bit.

Does the screw point down or up when mounted on the af100? If down then rails and such would make it more difficult to reach it...

Yeah, that's my guess too from the pictures. Well I'll be using it with some bigger lenses on rails so I'll be the guinea pig and let everyone know how it works out...

Great! I have the Zacuto rig too. The rails I'd figure would just make reaching around a bit tougher is all...just a bummer the screw couldn't be on the camera operator side, but I know that's a physical constraint of the nikon lenses. This is where the ring aperture control may be a little more convenient, but I won't stand by that statement until I play with the adaptimax. Thanks again Steve! Glad to see you on during the weekend!

The unit cost shipped to me with Fedex came to $461 or 285£, so definitely NOT cheap! ha ha
