Where's the new "MySpace Music" ?

I logged back to my old MySpace ( where most of my contacts were local musicians & bands ) and the interface looks sleek but... where's everyone? It seems 2009 was the year most users abandoned MySpace... even heavy users, like me. Unlike facebook, MySpace actually lets you see when the user was last active.
So the question is... where is the new great "hub" for local bands and artists? Facebook ? I don't think so! "Liking" a local band doesn't do anything for me , sorry. No access to their network, no personal contact, nothing. We need a new MySpace Music!

Sulia is a topic based twitter type app. I don't know if Sulia will be successful, but IMO this is the direction social media will go. Facebook was designed for people to hook up. Your "status" was important, are you single or not? People are trying to use Facebook for everything, from discussing politics to keeping up with your favorite band, but it wasn't designed for that so it doesn't do those things very well.

I think people will become frustrated with Facebook and gravitate towards more targeted social media about a topic they are interested in, music, sports, art, movie making, etc.

Instead of looking for sports related items, people, etc. on Facebook, why not use an app that is 100% geared towards sports, made to keep up with scores, teams, etc., and everyone on it is interested in sports? Or politics, music, etc.

That's a fooking great performance man!!!!
There's many more in the previously noted dvxuser thread. Right? If you dig a bit.

Any of these new sites listed lets you access the bands' network of contacts? For me, it's all about networking...

Yeah. Some do.

I wouldn't say letting you "access the bands' network of contacts". That attitude really turns me off.
You can contact band members.

And who posted the big Red Devil Face beside this thread post? With the UnSmiley face. :) I know it wasn't Doc. He's been booted out as a mod already. Okay, Who was it? Cough it up. Ohhhhh, Brandon. Must have been that quite guy. The evil one.

//edit: Doh. Probably the host. Cough..................never mind.

You didn't understand my question then. My 2 years on MySpace taught me that Musicians like to network with other musicians. One great thing about MySpace was that adding a new friend to your contacts would give you instant access to their network of contacts. Nothing wrong with that, since back then I was trying to market my video production services to local bands. But its all a numbers game, so, having access to a huge network of potential clients was ( and still is )a big advantage

Oh, I see. My apologies. I know a couple of indies. I just checked DavidFinkleFlute and David Finkle ( http://www.myspace.com/davidfinkleflute/radio and http://www.myspace.com/davidfinkleflute) and your right. He does have MySpace pages too. However, both links are non responsive right now. //Speak of the devil, they're back up now[I think].

Anyways I'm asking David where some good places are to network for musicians and I'll shout back if I hear anything.

Again, my apologies.

edit:// I'll pass this post to him as well.

edit:// https://www.facebook.com/david.finkle.14 if you'de like to speak to him directly. (I hope I'm allowed to post that in public.)

//Also hinted to David to join dvxuser. He's getting into video editing as well now. :)

Did a few artist searches in Reverbnation ( 2 Asian artists, 2 Australian )... results were dissapointing. Delta Goodrem, one of the biggest selling artists here in Australia had only 14 fans... The 2 other Asian artists, also very successful, did not have profiles. Their songs were only DJ mixes.

I think "YouTube" could be the new big thing, it just hasn't focused on any specific market. I've been to several different countries ( non-English speaking countries ) and YouTube seems to be default medium for music marketing. No matter where you go, the locals know they can watch their favourite artists in YouTube. Problem is, many really good bands or artists do not have videos to put there. Also, YouTube is not geared towards networking.... it's quite messy and disorganized actually.

Youtube is probably the best for marketing. I've been following the Japanese rock/pop scene for a few years (4?) now and they blow me away. I'm waiting for North America to take notice and catch up. :) (North America is years behind imo)

As for networking, YouTube, I don't think so, I agree. Maybe there are other sites. I would be interested to here of them as well. Again, ReverbNation is the only one I'm aware of right now. The Europeans must have another hangout. The Japanese too. I just don't know yet where it is. I'd love to find out as well.

//edit: Oh, I did have a link to the underground Lebanese music scene if anyone is interested. I'd have to dig that out again. Very good bands if your into , well, if you appreciate, well, are somewhat serious about the music scene. :)
