Where to buy the DVX-100A

I have read a bunch of reviews on sites that had the camera for a cheap price. Says the sites sell "gray market" products, meaning they are imports, not US made, without the battery and charger and no USA warranty.

Where is the BEST place to purchase a DVX-100A for hopefully the least amount of money? I'm not exactly rich here, being 18.

Feel free to e-mail me also.

What about the pro-package on EBAY thats selling for 3400 or so, with a case and tripod?

Re: Where to buy the DVX-100A

I've bought successfully from Buydig.com and Armatos Pro video www.armatosvideo.com. While I felt very comfortable with Armatos (rec'd by others)--you pay a few hundred dollars more. They have a "loaner" policy and "repair" services...(which I will be writing up a review on in the next few days...)

I was pretty nervous about buydig.com, but all went well. ** BOTH ** cameras had to be serviced under warranty--but these were DVX-100s and I think they were some kinks that Panasonic has worked out.

good luck

..to add..I think the camera is $3299 at buydig.

If I had to buy another I might go with buydig or EVS. By then having a few of these babies..I don't think I would need the loaner/repair program at Armatos.

If it’s a company called Digital Gear, don't do it. I bought from them and will never do it again. They'll try to up sell you until their face is blue and if you say no, you'll end up at the end of the shipping line. Eventually I had to barter to get my camera shipped.

Pay a little extra and buy from a reputable dealer, I can not emphasis this enough. Plus those extras they include in the package, they are almost always junk.

Bought a JVC150CG from www.evsonline.com, picked it up in Glendale an hour later, very good people, will buy from them again in the future....
also I've had great experiences with B&H.

It was not my intention to slam Armatos. They're fine and good people.

If anyone has a questions about repairing your DVX, feel free to message me.

You need a real warranty. I would have had to shell out close to $1500k to repair 2 cameras that showed defects within their first year.

Watch out for grey market cameras at prices that are too good to be true.  It's best to go with a reputable dealer through word of mouth or online ratings.  You can do research on dealers at:  www.resellerratings.com

Re: Where to buy the DVX-100A

I lucked out at www.inoax.com, paying $3,199. I got good service from the Sales Manager and the box arrived sealed, US brand and in perfect condition.

I work as a Sales Manager at PC Mall, where I have access to thousands of vendor products at wholesale prices. Inoax.com was below my cost. I strongly recommend that anyone also spend $130/year or so to insure the camera with www.safeware.com. You drop it, you're covered. It's stolen from your home, your hotel room, your car, you're covered. Their policies go way beyond the terms of most homeowner or renter's insurance.

As we all know, this camera is all too tempting for prying eyes and light fingers, so it's worth avoiding heartache if you lose it.

Re: Where to buy the DVX-100A

I read the reviews on inoax.com and they are horrible, shady tactics and most likely, their products are grey market.

Re: Where to buy the DVX-100A

Does'nt hurt to check with any of your local dealers either. I just got my DVX100A for $3250 by telling them there were numerous "reputable" dealers online selling in this price range that I had been consulting with.

Good Luck!

Re: Where to buy the DVX-100A

Here is what I posted somewhere else on this site about gray market dealers.

Guys...it is so easy!  With professional video gear and consumer for that matter, you cannot by any means get a "good deal".  There is a standard price set for individual pieces of equipment.  There are no "good deals".  You cannot by any means - cannot - get 500 dollars off the list price for the camera. 300 dollars for that matter. It just wont happen.  If you want a good deal go to circuit city and look at some of the consumer cameras for 200 bucks...seriously...can't people get over this...i am tired of this same question!!!! THE DVX IS RELATIVELY EXPENSIVE, IF YOU DON'T HAVE THE MONEY - SAVE AND FACE THE FACT THAT IT COST $3500.00!

Re: Where to buy the DVX-100A

I looked into buydig.com http://buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=PNAGDVX100A and it sounds pretty good. i researched some reviews and they all seemed to be pretty good. just wanted to get your opinions. Also, the prices for some small accessories doesn't sound that bad. Such as the filter kit.

OH, and how good is the battery advertised on this site? the one for $45 dollars?

Buydig is a gray market dealer. They are not authorized by Panasonic to carry the DVX, and they don't get their cameras from Panasonic.

At the link you listed, they're only $60 less than ProMax, and actually a dollar more than Willoughby's, and both of those are authorized dealers.

Also, the prices for some small accessories doesn't sound that bad. Such as the filter kit.
The accessories they have listed are all the same typical gray-market overpriced low-quality items, like Sakar and Crystal Optics. Spot-check the battery, for example: they have the Panasonic CGP-D28A for $119. B&H charges less than $80. That's 50% more than B&H charges.

A lot of people seem to say good things about buydig, but there's no way I would get it from them. They're not authorized, they sell overpriced junk accessories, and who knows if they play any games with warranty or shipping? Get it from ProMax for $60 more, and make a great relationship with a great dealer.
