Where to buy gun replica in Canada ??

I live in Canada as well. It's illegal to ship a gun that is a replica of a real gun, such as airsofts. You can get in big trouble. Plus Canada doesn't seem to have airsoft shops. I'm assuming because we don't make any of our own.

It sucks. You can try ebay to get from someone there, and hope that they don't know the law and that it doesn't get caught up in customs.

I've been doing some research on this too, and the news is fairly grim. You can have non-firing replicas if they are somewhere around 1875 or older, but not newer then that ( so WWII is out for me ).

You can produce or sell an exact non-firing replica of a weapon as a 'toy' very easily at all - so those basically are out.

Airsoft CAN be sold in Canada, and it is - but they're making it very hard to get the guns through customs, so alot of people arent bothering to sell them now. They're also alot more expensive here then they should be.

We're in a bind Canucks - all I wanted was a non-firing, plastic, POS gun for some filming - but dee-am, it's rough up here compared to our southern friends.

Anyone else know of any advice? So far the odd-looking dollar store guns painted black seem like the only sub-500 dollar choice.

there is also a shop in quebec (of lesser legitaty) that sells replicas... they wont ship them for obvious legal reasons, but if you don't mind a drive they are fairly reasonably priced...

As for airsoft rifles of modern design - this seems like decent prices:

If anyone else is looking specifcially for WWII weapons, that page does have an MP-40, but thats about it.

Still, once you get into 300 plus bucks for a prop weapon if you're doing no-budget work - ouch.. Wish was a kid again and could walk into the local toy store and get a gun that, with a bit of work, could look real enough on camera.

hey, you guys read Stu's DV Rebel?? he used flourescent green guns for scenes filmed in public. they looked like stupid toys. but then in post he changed green to black and the highlights made it look like weathered black metal. just do that!! go buy his book too cuz it's got killer perspective and garbage matte effects that're easy to do and they'll blow your mind!!!

You could try these guys. You'd be looking at spending at least $100.00. There is a site that makes these things called inert guns and besides the fact that they are made from Urethane, they are indistinguishable from the real thing. They are built to exact size and weight specifications and their products can range anywhere from rocket launchers and m249 machine guns to Glocks and Springfield rifles. They sell their products online and ship anywhere- the website is http://www.combattrainingaids.com

ok, just found this question interesting as for all the answers it got as well. Well here is my first answer on this thread. As for replicas you can try www.supplysergent.ca it is a store in Edmonton (West Edmonton Mall) and they sell replica revolvers such as the old Colt 45 or cap and ball pistols you see in westerns. There is a store in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and it is called Frontier Firearms www.frontierfirearms.ca and they sell (wink wink) flare pistols that look like the real thing, I have bought five different models this year, one is even a select fire, from semi auto to full auto and they fire 9mmP.A.C. blank ammo, and they look and feel just like the real thing. Now to get serious, if all you want is a gun to be used as a prop in a scene or a gun to be seen in the background then you might think about buying a antique firearm, if a firearm is made before 1898 and you live in Canada anyone can buy it, own it, sell it, loan it, trade it, give away, and you can do this without showing any I.D. I know it sounds wrong, but check it out on the R.C.M.P. web site or just type in antique pistol Canada in your search engine and read about these strange laws. Or go to any gunshow in Canada and start asking questions or if you are at a gun show you should be able to pay for any new firearm and before you take possession you can have it deactivated. here is another law to look at, to point a firearm or imitation firearm at someone you are breaking the law and will be facing charges, so how does using airsoft guns or paintball guns work ???? are these not imitation guns ???? well hope these answers help you out

It might be illegal to ship them, but you can buy them. They're transparent but slightly sand them and paint them black and you're good to go. Bought a M4 AirSoft at Canadiantire.ca for less than 50$ a month ago. For short videos it's more than needed to sell the effect.

I doubt about it, but we never know.

That's indeed a real good advice, and that can avoid you some serious trouble. Be sure to get a color that's not anywhere else in the picture, otherwise you'll key it out in post and it won't be any better.
Wow, talk about dragging up an old thread.
Never noticed that untill I read your post, and scroll down to the first one to compare...Still, there's some interesting info in it.
