where to buy camera shoe for mounting

I need several (many?) camera shoe mounting brackets... just the bracket. (Its a long story, but the punchline is that I am building several mounting brackets as part of a DIY project.) I have not been able to find any source at a reasonable price. There are pre-packaged ones available in the $15-20 range, but I need just the loose hardware. I'm looking for something similar to this:

I really just need the "C" shaped piece of metal, doesn't have to include the screws, and any hole pattern would probably work. Anyone have any good sources?

Look on Ebay at the chinese manufactures for camera gear. I purchased a bunch of loose rossetts from Lanparte for way cheaper than I could have ever made them. Lanparte is a great company to deal with. They check emails and respond very quickly and take paypal. You just have to be mindful of the chinese holidays, if they are shut down, no response.
Hope this helps.

Y'know, for finding oddball things that don't seem to have a name... google image search every phrase you can think of, and scan the grid of pics. Eventually you'll see it, click on the photo and hopefully it will get you closer, or help you dial in your search terms.

Sounds crazy, but I've found plenty of parts that way.

I have about 15 of these that I do not need. They look similar to the photo. shoe.jpgThey have a 1/4-20 screw female hole on the bottom ( that's funny), I can mail them to you if you live in US. All you need is to drill a 1/4" hole in the bracket and tighten a 1/4-20 screw on the other side, instead of having to drill 2 holes and taps.
