Well I certainly hoped we already would have the 400mpbs recording option available.
Any info when the update is coming?

I would expect the release of this GH5 update will be timed to the arrival of V60 / V90 SDXC cards from all the major manufacturers, otherwise there might be some very unhappy GH5 campers complaining that their $200+ SDXC cards aren't fast enough for the 400 Mbps update. I strongly suspect that the updated GH5 camera will reject any card that doesn't identify itself as V60 or higher when shooting at 400 Mbps.

Adata v90 sd cards are listed on Amazon as available in 1-2 months and I believe I remember hearing "late summer" thrown around for the 400mbps update. Really, it won't be useable without the proper media anyway.

Regardless I wouldn't hold your breath for seeing it in the next 30 days, personally.

There are SD cards out now that record 880mbps on the BMD Video Assist monitors. Pretty sure it isn't hard to find cards capable of 400mbps.

Release dates like "summer" typically mean more towards the end of the season. What the reasoning is for it is 100% speculation at this point but may have more to do with the EVA1 or part of a marketing strategy to keep interest and sales going strong after initial release. There could be dozens of reasons.

I tend to play it safe and when I hear summer I think ok by the very last day of summer. If it comes out early hey its a surprise and a bonus but then I'm not sitting around pacing back and forth waiting for a feature that I honestly don't need to survive.

But these cards have no guarantee that they will NEVER drop below a 480 Mbps write speed. ( meaning every bit on the card will be written at 480 Mbps or faster )

The V60 cards are the first SDXC cards that guarantee this write speed. ( I will probably buy V90 cards if they aren't double the price of the V60 cards )

v90 adata 256gb cards are listed on amazon at $300, shipping in 1-2 months
For a couple of those cards you can buy a 12, 14, or 16 core CPU and have less storage needs.

Unless 400mb/s all-intra is going to record a better quality than long GOP I see no need.
Now if they would add 400mb/s long GOP I would certainly be interested.
