GH1 Where have all the 20mm pancakes gone?

I noticed the Panasonic 20mm pancake lens is now discontinued. I was wondering if anyone knows why Panasonic stopped production of what is likely their best selling m4/3 lens. Possibly to release a new "x" series pancake lens?

Either way it's unfortunate, as I waited to long to pick one up, and now they're more expensive then ever.

Here's to hoping for a new, fast, "x" series lens...

Yeah, I just got one from B&H like 10 days ago.
It would be insanity if they quit making that one.

Dan I have had the 20 and now have the 25 and LOVE the 25 way more than I ever did the 20, for not a whole lot more money either. I choked a bit at first on the price, but have completely forgotten the feeling since it arrived.

Can you tell us a bit about why?
My guess would be there's only a small difference in zoom - but there must be more to it if you like it this much.
What makes the 25mm so much more to love?

~Thanks Chip

I have the 20mm 1.7 and although the image is great, the manual focusing on the lens is absolute crap. I hate it.. I also much rather shoot with the Hyperprime 12mm 1.7 or the Voigtlander 25mm .95. The 20mm gets very little love and use by comparison. Now if I were to use the autofocus then that might be something, but it hunts a lot and is super noisy...

I also prefer the 25/1.4 to the 20/1.7... I like the 20's field of view and image, and especially its size on small m43 cameras, but I like the 25's image a bit more, it's a little faster, it autofocuses faster on all my M43 cameras (GH2, AF100, ELP1) when needed, focus is internal, ring is smoother, and I'm not constantly getting my big ham fingers in the frame while reaching for the focus ring on that little pancake.

That's exactly the kind of specifics I was hoping for.

THANKS!!!
