Where do you store your video files while editing?

I wanted to poll the users here and ask where you typically store your video files while editing: on your main boot drive, on a second internal hard drive or on raid 0 drives? I've always liked using a second internal 7200 rpm drive for video files but after reading about raid I wonder if that would be a better way.

I usually store them in a bread box under my bed!

Ok sorry. I use single external Firewire drives mostly. I will dup the project files to my main drive, but keep the media on an external drive, and back it all up on an other external drive. I have been using this for event videos lately, but I have some fictional narrative projects coming up and am going to re-evaluate my way of doing things. So, I'm open to suggestions.

I store the original files on an internal drive. I keep a backup set on external raid. And I keep my working set on a second raid.

Re: storage of footage

Has anyone tried to store their video footage on some of these off-site companies like Carbonite, etc. Just like you would with your other computer files ?

Are you asking the second question of whether people edit off an internet connection?

I am looking to reconfigure my drives because things are getting a bit out of hand. My current setup:

C system drive (actually 2 500 GB SATAs in RAID 0) - Windows, programs, projects, cache, autosaves

D drive - Partition of system C drive for Factory Image

E drive - DVD drive

F drive internal (1.5 TB SATA) - Capture video and audio, stills

G drive internal (1.5 TB SATA) - Preview files, Timeline exports for DVD, YouTube, etc. media capture overflow

M drive external (1 TB eSATA) - More media overflow, completed projects

Harm Millard has a thread on the Adobe forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/427772?tstart=30 about storage and system tips for editors that I am trying to follow.

Carbonite is not a bad idea for a backup to a backup. However, some of my video files can be 50 or 60 GB and terabytes for entire drives, so you can imagine how long it would take to recover from the internet. I currently am backing up on external drives like a Maxtor one touch and a MyBook, but I desperately need more storage space so looking for another external drive maybe a RAID setup.

OWC Mercury Elite External 4TB Raid 5. It is hooked up via esata and soon to be into a Rocket Raid card.

Previously we used a 1tb internal drive but that soon became too small for our workload. Now the internal drive is the "stock" library.
