Where do you get repair service, is extended warranty worth it?

On the verge of buying my first Panasonic (dvx100b) - maybe switching from Sony. If I get the DVX100B I'm wonderiing if it's a good or bad idea to spend $200 for a 4 year Mack extended warranty.

Critical info I want to research first is - where do you have to send the dvx100b if it needs repair.

I'd like to ask the repair place if they've had good experience with Mack standing by their warranty or do they give them any hassle. My local Sony repair place said they had problems getting repair authorization for some of their clients with the Mack warranty. (They had no problem with my Philips warranty, but Philips doesn't sell camcorder warranties anymore).

I think many manufacturers have centralized their authorized repair places, so I'm wondering if anyone has experience with getting a dvx repaired recently - where do you send it, how's turnaround time and service, price, etc.?

If anyone has had recent experience with a Mack extended warranty, please give me some feedback.

Go to the Panasonic website and under Support look for service. Enter the product and your zip code and it will pop up a couple of places.

I do not have a feeling about the extended warranty, other than it is usually a deal that will make the warrantor money.

Best,

jan
