I just heard back from Jan, and after giving her my serial # and exact model number, she has confirmed that my unit has a full US Panasonic warranty. It appears to be a case as Barry stated above regarding my camera purchase from a non authorized dealer which had been purchased from an authorized dealer who then went on to sell to me. Nonetheless, if I had to do it over again, I would go with an authorized dealer just to avoid the potential non-warranty situation. Oh yeah, one last comment. After getting my dvx100A I purchased Barry and Jan's dvx book and CD and they are a fantastic addition to the camera. Thanks all.

Excellent news. It's nice to have one of these stories have a happy ending. And Barry's book is required reading. Good choice in getting it.

Becareful what you wish for my friend! You can find a DVX100a or 100 for cheap. But you might be getting scammed in the process. Like ordering from some of those New York City shops. I am NOT talking about B&H they are very reputable.
