How do you know?

Here:

http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/dsc/download/fts/dl/gh1.html

It says 1.3...

If I buy a 1.2 firmware version, can I be sure I will be able to hack even if I will update from 1.2 up to 1.3 before to hack?

Or should I avoid to update from 1.2 to 1.3?

I've just hacked my V1.2 firmware GH1, without updating the GH1 into V1.32. I downloaded V1.32 from the web and loaded it into PTool 3.40d, then hacked it to GH1__133. Evrerything works fine.
I downloaded firmware GH__1.32 and PTool3.40d from the link per Ipowell 's suggestion.

Yup, I wanted to say 1.32, now edited.

ptools will tell you if it is the correct v1.32. it wont accept any other. updating with a patched v1.32 is the same as original v1.32 but with the goodies so you're just doing one unnecessary step =)

Do you want to say if I hack with the 1.2 firmware, I don't need to upgrade to original (Panasonic) 1.32 version first?

Can I hack directly from 1.2 and I'll have the 1.32 included (into and with the hack)?

you cant patch with v1.2. ptools does not recognise it only v1.32, i tried already...ha. what i am saying is the original poster from how i read it says he wants to update to original v1.32 first then apply patch. he can just simply apply the patch with v1.32 with whatever he wants ticked and still get all the updates from the original firmware. so instead of updating twice he only needs to do it once. just more efficient =)

first part I understood. I am lost when you say he wants to update to original 1.32 then apply the hack. If we have 1.2 we need to update to original (Panasonic) 1.32 first, no?

So, can I apply the hack directly from 1.2 then?

Sorry, I am not the techie type.

But there is no more GH1__12 for you to download from.
Currently, only GH1__132 is available to download from the internet. Effectively, you just need to hack the GH1__132 and upgrade the firmware from your in-camera GH1__12 to the hacked one (namely the GH1__133 or whatever number you increase from the GH1__132 pana firmware).

The camera I found available in stock has 1.2 firmware.

So should I apply the hack directly to 1.2? Or update to 1.32 first, before hacking?

You need to do a little more reading first.

Here it is in a nutshell.
1.Your camera will come with version 1.2 installed.
2.You will download version 1.32 from the Panasonic site
3. You will download the latest PTools
4. You will open PTools and it will ask you for a firmware. You will point it to the 1.32 that you downloaded. You will then apply the different "patches" (choices) that are available from the Hack.
5. You will save the "new" version of 1.32 (see how to check the prevent compare and increment version boxes) in a folder
6. You will connect a card reader with a SDHC card to the computer and then save the new "Hacked"version to that card.
7. Load the card into the camera and push Play and the Hacked version will be loaded onto the camera and now your camera will be GH13.
8. Take out card and format that one or use another one and go shoot.

If you watch the nice video on here about how to do the hack it will make sense. All this is from memory and I haven't done it in awhile so if I have a few words wrong you will understand.
