Hi guys,

I'm shopping for a "Shotgun Boom Mic Kit" which is very reasonable in price for someone at a starting point in business. can you advise any with a kit?
I found this one at model B&H Azden # SGM-1X for $149.00 but that is just the mic and no kit. Here is a link to this mic:

Do you recommend this Mic?
Also, where can I find the rest of the kit for a reasonable price or can I build something to make it work?
Thanks,

ZIA

You can buy an aluminum painters helper at home depot for about $20 add an Audio Technica shock mount for $40 and there you go. I use the painters helper for now, but a pole that folds up wound be really nice. A 8 1/2 ft Gitzo costs about $100 without the shock mount.

PS just my two cents but I would spent the money and get an Audio Technica AT897, a good modest mic rather then mess around with azden.

Mike, thank you so much. I couldn't find an 8 1/2ft Gitzo pole for $100. I don't where you saw it, maybe you can send me that link. I found 66" & 79" Gitzo pole for $120 or more.
But, I like the idea of buying the Aluminum painters helper at Home Depot. My concern is how is the Audio technica shock mount or any shock mount going to screw on that? Do they have the same threads to screw on?

There is a local store here in Tucson WWW.ICSAUDIOVIDEO.COM that sells the Gitzo for 129.90. I figured B&H would have one for cheaper.
My partner drilled a hole in the handle of a paint roller slipped in a bolt that matched the AT shock mount, then fastened the shock mount with a nut. The paint roller handle has a thread that is compatable with the painters helper
