Where are some good sites that convert dv to digibeta? The reason I ask this is because I am working on a TV show to pitch to some stations. I heard that I must convert my dv footage to digibeta. Is this true? If so what are the price rage on average for this? What are some good sites that do this. Thank you in advance for all information provided.

Well, first get in touch with the likely TV stations and hear what they want as a delivery format. Then I would go to a local production company (if there are any near you) and ask them to do it. I don't quite remember what the rates were for the one I was at, but it is very reasonable if it is a straight dub.

Thanks. I was told about this and was clueless. is there any websites up so i can send it for it to convert?

Depending on where you are, it might be easier to have a dub or post house do this locally. It will save you on shipping since you'll need the tape anyway.

So - where are you? There may even be an independent edit suite owner that would do this cheaper than a dub house.

If you try doing an online delivery with an ftp file transfer, there are sometimes 'set-up' or 'transfer' charges that apply. This can also be true if you send them a drive or DVD with the files for transfer.

You don't need and don't want a digibeta to pitch a show. A dvd is standard when pitching a show. Having your work on a digi will make it a real pain for the exec. producer(s) to look at your work, chances are they will ask an assistant to convert it to a dvd or a VHS anyway and you will look like a newbie.

Wow thank you all for ur help. SomewhereinLA thank you I had no idea I would need to pitch it on dvd. I herd it had to be converted to digibeta, i knew it did not sound right. Thank u once again.

Not to confuse the issue but it all depends on the pitch {and the network / cable outlet}. If you get a go and are passed on to QC (which happens) without an air master and are stuck holding a DVD... who ends up looking "like a newbie"?

A great idea without broadcast quality QC is just that - a great idea. Granted, this applies more to larger networks and not 'stations', so a DVD will probably suffice.

At the end of the day, if you don't have a pitch worth committing to DigiBeta (or the money) then you probably have bigger issues than what the suits are gonna want to watch.

Again - it just depends on who you're pitching to - local cable or network powerhouse?
