Where Are People Getting Their GH2's??

I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find a place that has them in stock (in the USA). Well, by everywhere I mean B&H, Amazon, and Ebay (awful deals on Ebay). Anybody know of places that are selling it for less than 1k body only?

Great question. I was just going to pose this exact questions. Any info on finding in stock would be a great help. thanks.

Is it even available body only ? B&H only lists kits (which aren't in stock, don't get excited) with crap variable aperture lenses. I hate to waste $200...

Yeah I know, same here. I would pay $999 for the cheapest kit as it's still cheaper than the GH1 was (assuming they had it in stock). But I'd be prefer body only.

Sorry Guys there is no stock right now, anywhere in the US. There is a thread on this subject already, search for "GH2 in stock"

You can get body only from Panasonic Direct, that is where i got mine, however you might be in for a long wait if you go that route (took them 20 days to send me mine). You might also try Kenmore Camera, I know some forum members have had luck there. Other than that I would also suggest you read the "GH2 in stock" thread, which contains some excellent information.

20 days?? That's really bad, especially since the web site says it ships in 1-3. I might pick one up from there, it's cheaper than buying with a lens I don't want/need anyway. Waiting 20 days hardly seems that bad since no one is getting it in stock anyway. I'll check out that thread.

My experience with purchasing a GH2 Body Only (Black) was this:

Ordered it on the 28th. The website stated 1-3 Day until it shipped.

I called Panasonic after 4 business day. Their customer service is horrible. Long wait times and the rep didn't know much. He said it would ship within two weeks.

The camera shipped after 5 business days. It was delivered the next day even though I order 2 day service.

Seems like every option is a gamble. Now for batteries....

Thanks for the info. I might just put the money away for a while, work with what I can on my GH1. I'm not sure yet.

I got mine by getting direct tweets to my phone from www.43rumors.com. On Christmas eve Amazon got 3 silver's in stock, I was able to nab one. I had a black one pre-ordered for almost a month.

I love mine... Good luck!

There was a weird corporate purchasing discount floating the net for body only through Panasonic direct for ~$700, so I don't know how long the line is through Panny now.

Hmm went to Panasonic's website, the body only is $100 cheaper than with the kit lens, not $200 like I guessed. Not sure that's worth worrying about.

On the other hand, it just makes me cringe the thought of owning a $100 zoom lens.

Plus you can probably sell it for $200

Also, if you order from an online vendor there's usually no tax. Panasonic adds tax, so you basically are getting that little lens for free (or next to nothing) by ordering from someplace like B& H.

I was going through the same frustration since mid December too. I finally decided to place an order for the kit I wanted at 3 different E-Tailers. I figured I would just see who came through, the first to ship would get my real business and then I would cancel the other two. So I placed orders with Amazon, Provantage, and Adorama. Eventually Adorama came through, so I canceled the other two - no problems. (Especially since none of them were going to charge my credit card until my order actually shipped).

My wife was a little wary of this method, mostly because she figured that 2 or even all 3 would get the GH2 instock and ship out on the same day or something. I figured that was low risk, and besides all of the places I ordered from would easily process the return at no cost and refund my credit card promptly. So that is what I would recommend you do if you are looking for a GH2: Order from 2 or 3 websites and see who wins then cancel the other orders.

Best of luck and like I said, Adorama actually came through the fastest - it was about 10 days or so.

I ordered mine on Dec. 20th from Samys and got in time from Christmas. Their site said it was out of stock (got the 14-42 kit) but when I called and talked to a sales person they had some. They may not have them now, but it might be worth a call.

...and I was fast enough! FedEx Priority = 9am delivery...of course I have a job (go figure) so I won't get it until the next day after I sign the stupid slip :-/
