When to use viewer and when to use P2CMS splitting a card.

Help me out here. Here is my p2 workflow:

I offload in the field with an addonics adapter and Lenovo netbook using winexplore and sometimes VIEWER for ingest. I like to keep a master p2 folder. A virtual tape rack if you will. I make a folder with the project and in that folder I place each card( 1,2,3, etc) the same way I use to get a box for a project and fill it with tapes labeled 1, 2 ,3 etc.

Back in the office I transfer the contents of field drives to a RAID 1 drive as my master virtual tape rack. That footage is then transferred to my edit raid as needed. The edited raid is cleaned after a project and I can use the p2 master drive to bring the media back online if needed.

Here is my problem. I had a bunch of run and gun shoots and I have some clips that go with project A and Project B in the same virtual p2 card on the Hard drive.

I tried to use CMS but it wants to create its data base and organize the cards itself. I want my clip re-shuffles to conform to my very straight forward system of Project>card 1,2,3,etc. I can see how CMS would be valuable if I used it to view and organize all my cards but I do not. I use WINexplorer.

Basically how do I move 4 clips from one virtual p2 card to another virtual p2 card with out destroying audio, meta or anything else important from the file structure.

Copy them using P2 Viewer. Put up two bins, each with a virtual card, and then drag the icons you don't want from one bin over to the other bin where you do want them. Viewer will bring all the associated content with it.

Holy crap that is exactly what I was looking for. Mr. Green you once again have all the answers.

Thanks Barry.
