hey all-

as a genral rule, is it better to correct the color by adjusting the camera settings (for example when shooting outside and the day is way too blue) or to do it in final cut?

thanks

In the case of colors looking blue outdoors during the day, you should definitely do a proper white balance. You can always add the blueness later in post, and if you change your mind, you still have good footage. Once in a while, I like to change the settings in camera to get a specific look, even if they could be applied after, because it helps me visualize a bit more what I'm going to get. But in most cases, I think the right thing is to shoot to retain as much information as possible (good colors, good exposure) and do any adjustments later.
