When I hit record the 5D does some kind of auto adjustment?

I'm probably doing something wrong here. I've read through the video mode on the manual and can't find anything... it's fairly vague.

Before I record I adjust the ISO and the f-stop to get the exposure where I want it. Then the moment I hit record the image either brightens or darkens dramatically... at which point I usually scroll the big wheel on the back of the camera to re-adjust to where I want it.

Can someone tell me what's going on ? I just bought the camera and assumed that it had the latest manual firmware, but maybe not? Or maybe I don't have it in full manual mode. the controls seem unclear and sort of playskool...

Go into LiveView settings and make sure its set to movie only...you might have exposure simulation on.

thanks. I don't have my camera with me now but I'm pretty sure it was on movie+still.
