When I enter a m2v file into Toast Titanium 11 with my AIFF, it gets all messed up!

I am trying to make a DVD with a m2V file I got from Compressor and an AIF file I got in exporting from FCP. I know I can get an audio file from Compressor, but I wanted a higher quality file.

When I combine the two in Toast, it tells me the length of the video is 45 minutes, even though the m2v file is 28 minutes. When I do a preview, it looks OK. But when I burn the DVD, it comes out screwy and it's completely not synced.

Any suggestions? The m2v is definitely 28 minutes. I've checked with MPEG streamclip. The problem is with Toast Titanium 11.

The audio will not encode to a DVD as an AIFF, whether you use Toast or DVDSP. The reason Compressor can shoot out the audio file that it does is that it is DVD-ready, compatible, compliant, etc.

I have a feeling that Toast is trying to convert the file and just not doing a very good job of it, but the real problem lies with feeding it the AIFF in the first place.

Try encoding both audio and video with the DVD preset in Compressor and see what happens from there.

DVD can take a 48khz aif file. We just don't use them much because they're space hogs that offer little improvement over .ac3 for most people.
If you're having synch issues you need to check that both files are compatible and at the right settings. If your .m2v file is 60p footage and misinterpreted as 29.97 then it's going to show up twice as long.
Another solution is to not use Toast, but DVD Studio Pro.
