When Export h.264 for Vimeo - Settings?

H.264 is the best codec for Vimeo correct?

If you're shooting 720.60p, do you go with Frame rate 59.94 for export and then let Vimeo encode that or take it to 29.97?

So Frame Rate: 59.94
Field Order: None (Prog)
Pixel Aspect... Square???????? or 16x9???
Profile: Main
Level: 3.2
VBR... I assume two passes are better than one ;)

What program are you using? I don't have an answer about framerate, I can tell you to use the square pixel aspect. If it's shot at 720p, than the native is square and making it 16x9 is unnecessary.

I attached the preset I use for 24p material. (I've been happy with this setting) Maybe you can just tweak the framerate.

It's a Apple Compressor setting, in a zip file.

I'm in PAL land, but I convert 1080 50i footage into 720 25p with a bitrate of 1500-2000 (depends on how long the file is). I tend to uload large videos though, sometimes 90mins long!

Thanks all. I'm using Premiere Cs4 / -- 720.60p. I did test out with square pixels and it seems to work nicely - I wonder why the NTSC HDTV 720p preset in Adobe Media Encoder is set at widescreen pixels... weird...

Vimeo seems to do a wonderful job of encoding on their end - I would imagine if you upload 60p or 24p it gets turned into their frame rate.

---Busted open that Apple setting/xml:

I assume that <codec-type>avc1</codec-type> refers to Apples h.264 codec... I wonder how it compares with CS4... i'll have to go out and google around...

Hello Shizznid,

I'm trying to export a Premiere CS4 footage to Vimeo. How can I import in CS4 your file?

I have test several ways without success.

Thank you!

xoxo -

With Premiere CS4, just use the H.264 -> YouTubeHD settings to export you video and it should give you acceptable product to upload to Vimeo. At least that is what I usually do.

It's an Apple Compressor preset file. There's no way it'll work with CS4.

Thank you all,

I have selected these settings, and as I am from Europe, just changed to PAL.

Now Vimeo seems converting. Thank you!
