Hey guys! So, I'm deep in developing a remote control system that will allow users to control compatible Sony cameras from a wireless Xbox 360 controller (potentially other controllers down the road) with a range of 30+ feet, and customizable button assignment. Additionally, it can control the Kessler Second Shooter motor system, making it possible to potentially have pan/tilt/slide/zoom/focus/cam-control all on one controller. Paired with a separate wireless video transmitter/receiver, it would provide virtually complete remote control. My development cameras have been the Sony A7S and the PXW-FS7, however, the intention is to support a wide range of Sony cameras, and later possibly Canon as well. I'm expecting that when finished, this would be something that as a full system (software, translation hardware, remote control) would cost end users $350 USD or less.
For the moment, I could use some assistance. The question is simple - what is the SSID of your camera's wifi connection?
On my FS7 it is: DIRECT-JdF0
XW-FS7_0020069
On my A7S it is: DIRECT-s0E0:ILCE-7S
The naming template seems standardized, but I want to be sure. This will help me best program my software to recognize when a camera is available for connection.
For the FS7, you can see the serial number is appended. I'm therefore anticipating that the FS5, F5, and F55 follow suit.
For both cameras, the four letter code between the "-" and the ":" varies. I'd like to determine if these are consistent within camera models, or if they vary (Do all FS7 units use code "-JdF0"?)
Interested in answers from owners of pretty much all Sony wifi enabled cameras, but most particularly FS5/FS7/F5/F55/A7series
One more question to those with FS5... does the wifi webpage layout feel like/look like the one for the FS7? Haven't had my hands on an FS5 yet.
Thank you all!
