Preston, :o WOW!! That's some setup yo got there. ...Oh no! Feelings of inadequacy raging inside me. ....Must control self-esteem issues. Think happy thought PK. .....SERENITY NOW!!!

Cold Pyro, that's cool looking. I like how it's under a bunkbed. And the world map that goes from one monitor to the next. Looks like you've got all you need right there. But what is that gadget on your desk (with the pink nobs/buttons)?

meauxfeaux - Is that the new Scotch brand 'Magic' tape? Damn, I'm envious!  :D

I got rid of my old, generic-brand scissors and stepped up to some Fiskars. Yeah, baby!

Re: Show off your edit station

PrestonH, very nice editing station. What are all you decks for? (if they are decks)
How much did you spend for your studio? Just to give me an idea because I'm looking to start one.

Don't feel inadequate. I gotta confess I do this for a living so I've had 15 years to accumulate a lot of crap. The video business is a black hole when it comes to equipment. You can spend a lot of dough just trying to stay on top of rapid change.

Thanks. There's a couple of Panasonic S-VHS decks in the rack going back to the early '90's, BetaSP deck, and a DVCAM deck (DSR-11) on the desk. These days you can do a lot with less equipment. Throw in PC's, audio mixers, DVD, CD and cassette players - most of which you probably have already anyway - and it starts adding up. If I had to start over today and wanted to be able to cover most of the bases (including broadcast) you could probably get away with a decent NLE, good production or studio monitor, DV/DVCAM deck, Beta Deck, VHS/S-VHS deck with TBC and some ancillary doo-dads and audio equipment. I don't know if I want to know what I've spent over the years. Although I'm almost debt free these days, I would caution against going into debt to acquire a lot of stuff. It can be tough and painful.

Then there's the black hole of production equipment...

Re: Show off your edit station

The first is the laptop (currently needs to be fixed, it can't boot off the cd, and when i use the floppies, it still won't read the disk, don't know what to do haha.), i use it mainly for scriptwriting, and photoshop work on the go, and also for internet, but for now i'm using the desktop for all of that, which is nextr to it, nothing special, just a desktop with a CRT.

This is the pride of the room. It doesn't look like i have as much as some people, but eh, i jus rearranged it, i think it looks nice together, i had another shot of the whole desk, but it was horribly fuzzy.

lincolnlog - That's a clean freak's nightmare. Too much to analyze. My head hurts just looking at it.  ;) But looks aren't what matters, it's what's on the inside. And I would love to have your computer setup.

josh - Nice and simple setup. I like it. Not sure if the speaker placement gets you the best quality surround sound.   ;D
