whats wrong with this camera, stills issues in highlights.

Not sure if my photo attached... but I was shooting a timelapse and the highlights have some weird s*%te going on. There is like some very unsmooth differences with harsh lines in the exposure of the highlights, noticeable in the top right corner. It's def more noticeable in a video form when I put this into a tlapse but it looks ugly as hell. I had pretty normal settings and used standard, and pretty much everything was at zero. this is the jpeg from the raw file. If you look close enough you can see some pretty gross blocky pixilation happening. It is very noticeable when shooting on my lcd screen, as well as when i render out a video, but not as much when light room as a chance to process it. Here it is in motion: www.vimeo.com/128565128 top left of screen is where u can see the wave/lines which I encounter when shooting. What gives?

There is nothing wrong with the camera. You are seeing normal 8-bit 4:2:0 compressed video banding artifacts. Compression is the enemy.

Your monitor used to view the result also plays a role in what you are seeing. Sharpness set too high and Contrast set high accentuate minor artifacting that you would never notice otherwise, most monitors come "out of box" with Sharpness, Brightness, and Contrast all set way too high.

Use the monitor buttons to set these down to reasonable levels and you may see a difference. I see no artifacting in either the still or the vimeo video in your post. I am also a "sharpness nut" so you can be sure I'm not advising you "soften" your monitor image to death. But the very slightest amount of oversharpening can do what you see.
