Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

The prices seem to good to be true, DVX100A $1979 whats the scoop. If it is a scam cant you just put it on your Credit Card and deny the charges if it comes and it is not what you ordered...

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

It's a scam. Stay away!!!

Grey market item. They will pressure you to buy overpriced accessories by removing many of the standard components from the package. If you refuse to purchase the accessories, their next tactic will be to stonewall/delay shipment or claim item is currently out of stock. For the money you may be saving it not worth the hassle.

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

What do they hold from you and not let you have shouldnt it all come in the same box, it does sound to good to be true, but I figured it might be worth a shot who knows....

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

Sellers like this typically remove the standard accessories:

DC Cable, Battery, Remote Control, Shoulder Strap, Mic Holder, AC Cable, AC Adapter and DC Cable and then try and SELL you them back. What ends up happening is you spend as much (or even more) than you would if you just went a reputable authorized dealer.

Speaking of resellerratings.com, I am putting out an all-call for all our happy customers to please post on that site just like all the wonderful emails we get from you folks. Right now we have a 100% positive rating but only a few posts. I guess that's better than a bad rating ;) , but I know there are more content customers out there.

Here is a direct link to make it more convenient:

I can only offer you our gratitude in helping us grow.... ;D

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

I don't know if it's possible, Rush, but if you emailed most recent invoice info to at least myself, it would help with the rating process. I sent one when I got the DVX, but not for my most recent order, and that invoice is buried somewhere.

Also, if there is any suggestions process for evsonline, a past orders setup like newegg.com would be extremely convenient for frequent buyers.

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

Ah jeez guys, why didn't you just email me for those? Don't wait on that stuff, just email ;D

It's not worth a shot. If they aren't an authorized seller, you have no US warranty. And that's (big) IF they even ship you the camera.

I bought at Willoughby's and had a good experience.

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

w/ the magic bullet promo, i would most definitely go w/ an authorized dealer such as rush@evsonline.com...shop online 24 hours or call 800-238-8480 mon-fri 8-5 pacific...visa, mastercard, amex, and discover gladly accepted... ;) ;D

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

Burns and Sawyer (Hollywood) is consistantly the lowest I've found. They have been around for years and not only give great support but even offer a Saturday morning class on the DVX100/DVX100A.

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

I think Rush at EVS can meet or come near that price. Cant speak for him. However most of us here have used him. And time and time again he comes through.. Its kind of like a hairdresser or a mechanic.. Once you find one that works.. You continue using them. ;D

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

EVS can come near 2 grand? Their "special offer" for me was considerably more than 1000 dollars above that. I don't even think the wholesale price is under 2 grand.

Still, EVS has a very very good price and won't rip you off. I'd definitely go with them (as soon as the magic bullet bundles arrive.)

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

I think he was saying that EVS can match Birns & Sawyer's price.

Royal Camera's price is not legitimate. There is no way in hell (or above it) that you will get a DVX from them for $2000. Not even a used one. I know they advertise that price, but they will never honor it. The only way you'd get that price is if you agreed to buy about $1600 worth of "accessories", including a $700 wide-angle lens (that sells on ebay for about $50). You will always unquestionably pay more through a gray-marketer than you could through an authorized reseller such as EVS, ProMax, B&S or B&H.

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

Thanks Barry.. After reading the forum as a whole i can see where that may be mis-interpreted. Yes i meant EVS can come close or match B&S...

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

Greetings All,

When I had to purchase my DVX100a, EVS (Rush) matched the Birns & Sawyer price exactly.

Now time for a Matte Box! (Probably the Bogen Format 500)

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?

Glad I found this site. I'm in the market for a DVX within the next two months and I'm price shopping like mad. Naturally Royal Cameras turned up in my search. Express Cameras as well. I'll do more shopping and use the advice I've found here.

thanks! ;D

Re: Whats the scoop on Royal Cameras.com?
