What's the relevance of colour correction?

Hi im trying to learn more about colour correction and I'd like to understand what the relevance of colour correction is. Why is is so important to film making?

it gives life to the footage, When shooting for the highest dynamic range, the footage is typically vey flat looking. This enables you to get more detail in the highlights, and helps to keep them from blowing out. while at the other end of the spectrum, it helps with detail in shadows. Second, it can set a tone for the stylistic approach you may be taking, if you genre is horror, you may increase the blue's or greens, to give it a cold empty feel. It also helps to get your blacks to where they should be. Which is very important. So this is a quick response, and there's other reasons, this is what comes to mind while only having a half cup of coffee.

Consistency/continuity is the other big issue. Scenes shot at different times of day or under different lighting can look jarringly different when put next to each other - a problem if the scenes need to appear to be happening at the same time or place.
