Whats the purpose of false color? (Atomos Samurai)

Didn't know where to post this and I use the Samurai on the af100 so...

What is the purpose or how should you use the false color feature on the Samurai or any other monitor?
Is it just to increase the visible resolution the way converting a monitor/evf to black n white does?

Just realized it was a gap in my knowledge. Did a search but didn't find the answer.
